Farewel

 Dear English teachers.

Today, I want to share with you a significant moment in my life as a professional. This coming November 30th would be my last day working for MEP but not as an English teacher. I retire after 34 years of service.

I am grateful to the Lord for everything lived during these years. But also to all of you who were kind, respectful, and very professional.

This blog would not be for the English Regional Advisory though I would keep running it with a different name and information regarding language teaching. I invite you to stay in contact and benefit from future posts.

May the Lord bless you all!

Motivational capsule for students

We all know we have been living hard times. More than ever, our families have been split and affected economically, socially, and psychologically among others. Our students are probably demotivated and have lost interest. But also teachers too. I invite you to watch this video and reflect on it.  I hope the following words resonate in your hearts.

Be disciplined. Success does not come from a life without discipline

Be motivated. No matter what, keep your motivation high.

Have vision. A person with a clear vision understands what s/he wants to accomplish in life.

Be uncomfortable with average. You can go beyond. Prosperous people do not think average.

Avoid excuses. There is no room for false justifications.  Stay focused.

Be resilient. Adjust yourself to the changes and keep walking. Try to see an opportunity in everything you face.

Share some of these ideas with your students. Motivate them and connect the material to the STEAM strategy.

Task Based Approach

Hello again to everyone!
This post is an updated version of a previous one published at least a year ago. During the last week, a colleague asked about grammar and GTAs. His query went in the following direction. Can I incorporate grammar exercises in the GTAs? He added grammar is necessary to be skillful in the language.
To answer this specific question, we need to keep in mind that MEP promotes the Task-based approach. In this sense, grammar plays an important role, but the fulfillment of the task is the most relevant part of the teaching process. We got to be sure that the grammar exercises provided help students to accomplish the task. Grammar out of the context of the task
