Welcome back to school in this 2021

 Hello to you dear colleagues!

I hope this post would find you well. The school year is almost ready to start. I know many of you are just waiting for the news about the process we would be developing during 2021. 

Let me enlist some of the aspects to consider. Check for your understanding. In case you have doubts, let´s try to coordinate with the administration or the school district to give you specific training.

1. This year, we would be working with the national syllabus and the planning that you find in the toolbox sponsored by MEP.

2. Regarding those units that you did not cover last year, it would be your job to find the most relevant assessment strategies and integrate them with the ones proposed for this year in the curriculum.

3. Keep in mind that this year you have to diagnose the condition of your students. It should not include linguistic matters only, but also the scenario in which they are. 

4. You would be developing face to face classes and remote or distant teaching. It would include using ICTs when possible or sending them the GTA, or a combination of them.

5. The administration of the school center would determine the number of lessons for each subject. The recommendation is to have at least two face to face lessons. 

6. MEP would apply the national test for English students. There would be a version for the primary school. It would consider a sample of 6000 students from all around the country. 

7. MEP is asking teachers to include four stages when planning. Connecting, Clarification, Application / Construction and Collaboration. The following picture gives you extra information about it.


8. National advisors recommend you formulate 2 GTAs every month with tasks for the many linguistic competencies. If needed, you should create a GTA to reinforce and give feedback to students.

9. In every GTA, there must be a rubric to help you determine if students accomplished the linguistic goals.

10. You got to follow the mediation sequence and methodology proposed in the national syllabus. 

11. This year, the evaluation includes a percentage for GTAs and two evaluation strategies for each semester.
