This post is an updated version of a previous one published at least a year ago. During the last week, a colleague asked about grammar and GTAs. His query went in the following direction. Can I incorporate grammar exercises in the GTAs? He added grammar is necessary to be skillful in the language.
To answer this specific question, we need to keep in mind that MEP promotes the Task-based approach. In this sense, grammar plays an important role, but the fulfillment of the task is the most relevant part of the teaching process. We got to be sure that the grammar exercises provided help students to accomplish the task. Grammar out of the context of the task
